God’s Master Plan for Living Life to the FULLEST:  God’s Basic building blocks for living a Happy and Successful Life: Based on Psalms 1 and Joshua 1:8

I.                    The need for Separation from the majority of the world

“Blessed (Oh how Happy) is the man…” (Psalm 1:1)

A.     Separation from following the ADVICE of the world or we could say the consul and philosophy of this world.  We LISTEN NOT or we are guided by them.  We reject it if it is contrary to the Word of God.  “…who walks not in the consul of the ungodly…” (Psalms 1:1)

B.    Separation from being influence by our ASSOCIATES or Association.  We don’t allow them to influence our choices in life. “…nor stand in the path of sinners. (Psalms 1:1)

C.     Separation from setting down and allowing our ATTITUDE to become cynical, sarcastic and disrespectful like the majority of the world.  An outlook that is both POSITIVE and UPLIFTING. nor sits in the seat of the scornful. (Psalms 1:1

II.                 The need to Saturate our mind and heart with the Word of God.  (Saturate means cause (something) to become thoroughly soaked with so that no more can be absorbed. Our mind and heart is thorough soak so that no more can be absorbed.

“But his DELIGHT is in the law of the Lord (Psalms 1: 2a)

A.     We find great delight in MEDITATING on the Word.  Meditate is like a cow who fills up their stomachs with a lot of grass and will then bring up a cud (wad of grass) and chew it.  Reflect and think it through. Mull over truth to gain great insights.

B.      We find great delight in MEMORIZING the Word of   God

“Your Word have I hid in my heart that I might not sin against you.”  (Psalms 119:11)

C.     We look for WALKING POINTS (APPLICATION) in the Scripture.  Three Keys to use in examine any text:  What does it say?  What does it mean?  What does it want me to do?  (Referring to Application or Walking Point}.  What does it teach me regarding a KNOWLEDGE OF GOD?  “…and in His law he meditates day and night.”  (Psalms 1:2)

D.   Another Scripture on meditation:  “Meditate on these things; give yourself entirely to them, that your progress may be evident to all. (I Timothy 4:15).”

III.               The need for Stability and Spiritual Fruit (Becoming Godly) “He shall be like a tree PLANTED by the RIVERS of WATER, that brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf also shall not wither; and whatever he DOES shall prosper.” (Psalms 1:3)

A.     The promise is success and prosperity in everything that you do.  A promise from the Lord that if you separate yourself or LISTEN NOT to the wrong advice, disassociates from people who hurt your influence; and your attitude is positive and uplifting instead of being cynical, bitter, and disrespectful.  You also must LISTEN TO and meditate on God’s holy Word around the clock in a consistent manner.

B.    You MASTER the Word by being responsive to whatever it says. Obedience to truth leads to inward stability and spiritual fruit.

C.    We shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water that bring forth its fruit in its season.  You are rooted and grounded with Stability like a tree that is strong with much roots that enables a person to bear fruit; both the fruit of the Spirit:  “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness faithfulness, gentleness, self-control.  Against such there is no law.(Gatalians 5:22-23)”.

D.   We also bear the fruit of reproduction of like Kind:  “He who continually goes forth weeping, bearing precious seed for sowing shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him.”  (Psalms 126:6).

1.     This promise of stability, success, and spiritual fruit is reinforced by Joshua 1: 8 where the Lord says:   “This Book of the law SHALL NOT depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you observe to do according to all that it written in it.  For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you have good success.”

2.     Not only PROSPERITY, but also SUCCESS!

IV.              Simple contrast between the ungodly person and the godly individual.

A.     The ungodly has no promise of stability, success, and spiritual fruit.

B.     The ungodly are promised no lasting stability and will not stand in judgment; but they will be DRIVEN AWAY and perish forever.

C.     The godly life of success, stability and prosperity will give that person both an abundant life and eternal life.  The Lord will guide every aspect of their life both NOW and FOREVER.

“The ungodly are not so, but are like the chaff which the wind drives away.  Therefore, the ungodly SHALL NOT STAND in the judgment nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.  For the Lord KNOWS the way of the righteous, but the way of the ungodly SHALL PERISH.”  (Psalms 1:4-6).

D.    In Jeremiah 15:16 we find a powerful verse that summarizes Psalms 1, but it would emphasis what the Word of God does INTERNALLY in a person while Psalms 1 would emphasis what the Word of God does EXTERNALLY in bringing success and prosperity to an individual who separates himself from certain things while FOCUSING ON MEDITATING ON THE WORD OF GOD. Internally, meditating on the word of God brings joy and rejoicing of the heart.  A little TASTE OF HEAVEN here on earth.

“Your words WERE FOUND and I ate them and your words was to me the joy and rejoicing of my heart, for I am called by your name, O Lord God of host.”  (Jeremiah 15:16)

The word of God INVIGORATES (energizes, brings enthusiasm and a constant fountain of GREAT JOY) us.  It also BRANDS in our soul OUR IDENTITY as being sons of God and brother to Jesus Christ (That is so overwhelming that we could be a brother  to Jesus Christ) : Romans 8:28-29:”For whom He foreknew, He also predestinated to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among MANY BROTHERS.”  That is a MIND BOGGLING TRUTH!
